Tracy Haney is the current president of the Oklahoma Indian
Child Welfare Association, Inc. Mr. Haney is a member of the
Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and currently works with the
Sac & Fox Indian Child Welfare program in Family Violence
and Child Protection. His 20-year career includes both tribal
and state service. He was the Juvenile Justice Program
Director for the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, an Institutional
Programs Supervisor for the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile
Affairs and a Youth Guidance Specialist for the Oklahoma
Department of Human Services.
Mr. Haney’s experience includes working with youth in the
areas of child abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence,
delinquency prevention and intervention, and juvenile
corrections. Mr. Haney volunteers his time to many tribal,
state, and local boards. Among these are the Oklahoma
Advisory Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect, the Child
Abuse Training and Coordination Council, the Shawnee Area
Native American Child Protection Team, and the Project Safe
Board of Directors.
Other organizations he has served include the State
Interagency Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect, and the
Pottawatomie County Child Abuse Team, the Salvation Army
Boys & Girls Club Advisory Council, and many others.
Mr. Haney is a certified child sexual abuse investigator and
forensic interviewer and holds a reserve law enforcement
commission with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office.
He was the 2001 recipient of the District V Child Advocate of
the Year for Pottawatomie County and received the 2007
Sonya Atetewuthtakewa Award for Distinguished Service in
the Protection of Native American Children.
Mr. Haney and his wife, Paula, have four children. They have
been married for over 16 years and their family has served as
both a foster and adoptive home for Native American children.
