2022 CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP
Through the Oklahoma ICWA Partnership Grant, there are a limited number of conference registration and lodging scholarships available to attend the 15th Annual OICWA Conference “Protectors of the Sacred Circle”. OICWA is now accepting scholarship applications for registration for attendance and hotel lodging. This scholarship award enables child welfare professionals who practice in the field of Indian Child Welfare who lack company financial support to have an opportunity to attend the conference. This year the scholarship award is extended to include foster parents providing care to Native American children in Oklahoma.
Scholarships are valued at complimentary full- conference registration ($150) and up to two-night hotel stay.
Conference application includes the following for submission for child welfare professionals:
• Contact and demographic information
• Essay questions about your career and learning objectives
• A Statement of support from a supervisor or colleague
Conference application includes the following for submission for foster parent applicants:
• Contact and demographic information
• Essay questions about your experience providing foster care placement for American Indian Children. Include ways in which
you have supported Indian children connecting with their kin, culture and tribe and what you hope to gain from the OICWA
Conference training opportunity
• A statement of support from the licensing agency or licensing tribal program
The conference committee will select individuals with a financial need and who plan to apply the skills and knowledge gained to benefit their organizations, ICWA partnerships, and foster parents caring for Native American children. If selected for a scholarship, applicants must confirm their ability to attend the event and sign a release so they can be featured in conference promotions, including but not limited to press and video interviews. Scholarship recipients will be expected to provide a follow up interview to discuss their expectations and share what they learned.
• Scholarships waive registration fees for all three (3) days of the conference.
• The Lodging Scholarship application must be attached to the general scholarship application. Lodging scholarships will be
awarded to attendees traveling over 60 miles one way. (In the event that you are attending the conference through a
sponsorship and are applying for a scholarship for lodging only, please indicate the sponsor and contact person. Complete
the scholarship application in its entirety and submit according to instructions).
• Scholarship Application Deadline is October 24th, 2022.
• Scholarship awardees will be notified by email and a code for registration will be provided after approval by October 28th,
2022. Online registration will be required by the scholarship recipient (Registering for the event does not guarantee a
scholarship award).
• Per Diem or Mileage are the responsibility of the Scholarship Attendee.
• Please seek approval from your agency to ensure all scholarships are utilized.
