Conference Agenda Coming Soon


OICWA is excited to announce the annual conference will be an in person event held at the Downstream Casino Resort in Quapaw, Oklahoma on November 12th, 13th, and 14th, 2024!
We are honored to be hosted by the Quapaw Nation and co-hosted by the Northeast Tribal Child Protection Team that is made up of a membership of nine Tribes including the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, Modoc Nation, Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma, Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, Quapaw Nation, Seneca-Cayuga Nation,  Shawnee Tribe, and Wyandotte Nation.

OICWA was founded in 1984 and what an eventful forty years it has been! This year's conference will celebrate OICWA's 40th anniversary, accomplishments, and milestones. The OICWA conference serves as the largest Tribal Child Welfare training gathering in the state of Oklahoma and is attended by colleagues from across the United States. 


The 2024 conference will include a three-day agenda with an opening ceremony, keynote address, award presentations, breakout training sessions and back by popular demand, the OICWA Game Night returns as the evening entertainment, hosted by the comical Jerad Swimmer. The OICWA Membership Drive will be included for additional chances to win prizes. Throughout the conference, there will be cultural presentations, door prizes, and a silent auction. CEU, CLE, LPC, LMFT, CLEET, Foster Care, and DHS Training Credit hours available. Quapaw culture will be threaded throughout including a Quapaw inspired traditional meal served on Culture Night.

OICWA will continue its conference tradition of delivering premiere training and providing invaluable networking opportunities. Attendees will gain increased knowledge of the federal Indian Child Welfare Act, Oklahoma Indian Child Welfare Act, and current collaboration efforts with Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Oklahoma Court systems, and other key stakeholders.

Conference session topics will focus on five primary training tracts: Policy & Procedure, Behavioral Health, Legal, Culture, and Juvenile Justice/Foster Care/Adoptions.
