KIMBERLY BACA (Choctaw Nation Citizen)

Kimberly Baca is an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and has dedicated over twenty-two years to the Choctaw Nation Children & Family Services. Throughout her career, Kimberly has worked in multiple capacities and currently serves as the Adoptions Unit Supervisor.  Prior to her current role, she served with the Chickasaw Nation, gaining a broad range of experience in the field of Indian Child Welfare.

In her leadership role, Kimberly ensures that diligent family searches are conducted, recognizing the critical importance of family and Tribal connections to the well-being of Native American children. Her lifelong passion lies in serving Indian children and families and advocating for compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).

Kimberly holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from East Central University, graduating in 2001 and is a members of the Alpha Delta Mu Honor Society. She actively participates in national and regional advocacy efforts as a member of the National Indian Child Welfare Association and the Child Welfare League of America. She currently serves as President of the Oklahoma Indian Child Welfare Association and is a committed collaborator with OKDHS and community stakeholders to strengthen child welfare practices across the state.

 

Born and raised in southern Oklahoma, Kimberly is married to Thomas Baca. She is the proud mother of three adult children and one teenager, and she cherishes her role as “Mimi” to her grandson and granddaughter.
